Come April I make a 2 Quart pitcher of Matcha with 3 bags (from Costco). Important tip: Let the water boil but wait 5 minutes to steep and then add cold water. I keep it in the fridge after it cools to room temp. Sometimes I slice some lemons or cucumber into it.

That sounds amazing, especially the lemon and cucumber! Might need to try that!

I’ve been on a matcha kick lately and I’ve been waking up mid sleep for years but lately I’ve been sleeping through the night. I hadn’t realized it until reading your substack but the timing definitely aligns with the time I started to drink matcha. And I’ve definitely had better sleep this past week which is exactly how long I’ve been making my own matcha at home so I can have it daily. Thank you for sharing!

I’m so glad to hear you’re getting better sleep! And thank you so much for sharing, hopefully it helps more people too!

Thank you for doing the research and putting this out here! Tbh, I didn't truly understand the difference between matcha and other beverages of its ilk before reading this, but I feel like I learned a lot from this! I'm curious, is there an ideal time of day to consume it for best results?

I am so happy to know this helped! I am completely on this with you, matcha seems to be one of those things you constantly hear “you should drink it,” but nobody really explains why.

I usually have mine in the morning and/or afternoon as a coffee replacement, or even as a pre-workout drink about 30 minutes before. I would probably avoid taking it at night just because it does contain caffeine.

Really interesting - I find matcha a bit strong as a tea but I'll look into different ways to consume it!

Glad to hear that! For me, some types of coconut milk (the creamier ones) and a bit of honey seem to do the trick! But desserts made with matcha hit different as well, as it’s nice to have a treat knowing it’s also good for you 😀

Those sound great! I’ll give them a try 🙏

I love everything matcha!💚 l theanine is also taken as little chocolate squares. I took one the other night and fell asleep in the car. Not driving but I felt so comfortable, I was like…wow I feel comfy I think I’ll close my eyes and I drifted off!
