With the upcoming Easter holidays, I am already starting to keep dinner options somewhere in the back of my mind.
And if I’m honest… holidays now bring a bit of a mixed feeling.
I used to love them for the food, for the gathering of everyone together.
Growing up in a traditional family, any holiday celebration was a reason for my mum and grandma to prepare a full feast of the most delicious food… to the point where you needed pants one size bigger by the end of it.
But as I grew older and started becoming more conscious about how I eat…
Holidays started to feel a little different.
Now it feels like I’m somewhere in between.
On one side, I crave it all.
The cakes.
My grandma’s pies.
All those rich, comforting meals.
But on the other hand… I’m much more mindful of how it makes me feel after.
Heavy.
Sluggish.
A bit off.
Suddenly, it felt like there were always two versions of everything.
One for everyone else.
And one for me.
And if I’m being honest, mine never felt quite the same.
The bread basket? Off limits.
Healthy desserts? Usually disappointing.
And those “gluten-free alternatives”… not always worth it.
It started to feel less like a celebration… and more like a struggle.
And I know I’m not the only one.
Because during the holidays, food isn’t just food.
It’s connection.
Tradition.
Comfort.
And when you can’t fully participate in that, it can feel isolating.
So my goal became simple.
Try to find a healthy balance.
Eat a bit better… but still enjoy the food.
Do not restrict everything. Just be a bit smarter about it.
So instead of trying to “replace” everything with store-bought versions…
I started using this gluten-free system from Bloom Cooking and making my own.
Real bread.
Real meals.
Just… gluten-free… Just healthier… Just less processed ingredients.
And the difference?
